What's New in Employment Hero Updates: AI, Recruitment, Payroll and HR Updates You Should Know About

Employment Hero's latest round of updates gives a clear answer to what new features actually change for the people using them day to day: less manual admin, faster hiring decisions, and tighter compliance heading into the new financial year.

Hero AI is taking on more of the day to day work

Hero AI has expanded well beyond answering questions. It can now handle shift rostering through natural conversation, meaning employees and managers no longer need to navigate a separate scheduling tool to sort out a shift swap or cover.

For businesses on Platinum+, Hero AI now applies your Company Values when generating feedback, development guidance and performance insights, keeping the language and framing consistent with how your organisation actually operates rather than generic templates. Premium+ customers get a similar lift in reporting: Hero AI can now answer questions about Happiness Survey results and learning progress, and it will automatically summarise performance reviews, cutting down the time managers spend synthesising results manually.

Refreshed workspace

Full screen layout, complete conversation history, a live "thinking" timeline, and new @ mentions for pulling people or records directly into a conversation.

Hero AI in the ATS

Summarises CVs, compares candidates side by side, drafts interview emails, and flags incomplete scorecards or expiring invites before they become a bottleneck.

Smart scoping (Premium+)

Automatically scopes to the right employee in 1:1 sessions and on performance and compensation pages, with in canvas editing now live for Report Builder on Platinum+.

Hero AI is moving from a tool you ask questions to, to one that actively does a portion of the administrative work for you.

Hiring is getting faster, with less manual coordination

Recruitment has picked up some genuinely practical upgrades this round. HeroFlow V1, now live for Platinum, Elite and Unlimited plans, lets you set up automated workflows that trigger the moment a candidate reaches a particular milestone, replacing manual follow up with a system that reacts in real time.

For businesses that don't currently have recruitment support included in their plan, there's now a free standalone Recruitment Agent. Clients can sign up, post a job and start sending AI powered interview invites without needing a sales conversation first, which lowers the barrier to trying AI assisted hiring.

Talent pool CSV import

Supports up to 20,000 candidates at once with smart deduplication, making it realistic to consolidate candidate databases built up over years.

Smarter candidate matching

Find Talent now shows a detailed breakdown of exactly how each candidate meets your specific hiring criteria, rather than a single match score you have to take on faith.

Payroll compliance keeps getting tighter

On the payroll side, the changes are smaller but meaningful for compliance teams. Pay rate changes now trigger automatic notifications, and leave evidence requirements can be enforced in tiers, with retroactive uploads accepted. Both changes reduce the manual checking that typically falls on payroll administrators.

HR features that remove friction from everyday tasks

A handful of HR updates focus on removing small pieces of friction rather than adding new capability outright.

The Go1 course catalogue can now be browsed publicly, so teams can explore over 100,000 courses before committing to a purchase, useful for anyone building a learning and development case internally.

Employee profiles are now unified and synced across Employment Hero and the Jobs careers site, including a dedicated leave section, so employee data doesn't need to be maintained twice. Rostering calendars can now sync directly to Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar, and Time in Lieu policies are more flexible, with configurable accrual days and automatic expiry.

Workflow automation has also improved: automated emails can now be previewed before publishing, there are more than 28 variables available for onboarding and 31 for offboarding, and a new run log shows what's actually happened at each step. Workforce planning has gained labour models that link headcount directly to sales demand, useful for businesses trying to plan hiring around growth rather than reacting to it after the fact.

  • Feedback has moved to a simplified three tab experience
  • Employer onboarding fields can now be customised
  • Organisation email settings are now unified in one place

What's changing specifically for Australian businesses

A few updates apply only to the Australian market, and they're worth flagging ahead of the new financial year.

Payroll & Compliance

Super account auto-discovery

A new ATO integration surfaces employees' existing superannuation accounts and automatically lodges Tax File Declarations during onboarding, removing a step that previously required manual follow up.

Qualifying earnings report

A new report makes it straightforward to compare qualifying earnings against the superannuation guarantee per employee ahead of STP lodgement, particularly useful heading into 26/27 FY pay runs.

Vehicle allowance kilometre tracking

A new warning system alerts you when an employee is approaching the $5,000km tax free cap, catching an issue that's easy to miss manually.

Recruitment

Seek integration

The Seek integration now supports pre-filling screening questions, saving a step in every application processed through Seek.
